A funerary perspective on the Bell Beaker period in the Wester Mediterranean Reading the social context of individual burials at La Vital (Gandia, Va…
2013
[EN] The discussion about social dynamics in recent Pre- history is supported by the study of funerary practices. The presence and significance of individual and collec- tive burials in Final Neolithic/Chalcolithic societies in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula provides new evi- dence for the debate concerning the emergence of social inequalities in this region. Our contribution is based on the recent discovery and excavation of several individual pit burials in domestic contexts at the site of La Vital (Gandía, Valencia). The particularities of the identified burials (different ritual episodes) and their content (Bell Beaker pottery, metal objects, animal offerings) together with an …
Comparative analysis of bonding mechanism in solid state metal working processes
2016
The Piwnik and Plata pressure-time bonding criterion was applied to Friction Stir Welding, Linear Friction Welding, Porthole Extrusion and Roll Bonding. A neural network was set up, trained and used to predict the bonding occurrence starting from the main field variable distributions calculated through specific numerical models developed for each process. The analysis of the results permitted to predict the occurrence of solid bonding and to highlight differences and analogies between the processes in order to obtain sound solid welds.
Le mobilier archéologique de l’habitat du Hallstatt final à Écuelles « Charmoy » (Seine-et-Marne)
2005
The Ecuelles Charmoy site is one of the first Late Hallstatt settlements to be discovered on the edge of the plateau that dominates the Seine-Yonne confluence. In use for only a short period at the end of the 5th and during the first half of the 4th century BC, the site includes postholed buildings, storage pits and other structures in an organized domestic space. The pottery, especially the painted ware, is particularly abundant in the storage pits and constitutes a reference of local ware and its production. Also the traces of metalworking found on the site, be it the reduction of iron or the crafting of moulded bronze jewellery, renews our knowledge of the function and vocation of such a…
